Buhari, Osinbajo, govs storm Edo today
The Chairman, All Progressives Congress
in Edo State, Mr. Anselm Ojezua, said President Muhammadu Buhari would
lead the party’s members to Benin today.
Ojezua disclosed this while speaking
with journalists in Benin on Monday. He said that Vice-President Yemi
Osinbajo and all APC governors would also be at the event.
He said that the rally would take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governorship poll in the state will hold on Saturday.
Ojezua said that the National Campaign
Council for the election headed by Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos
State was already in Benin in preparation for the rally.
He said that all arrangements had been concluded to ensure a hitch-free rally.
“All logistics to ensure free movement
of the visitors and party supporters across the state have also been
perfected. Anytime the APC is holding a rally, there is always mass
mobilisation.
“Once the people know that the President is coming this time around, our people would be so excited to receive him,” he said.
The party chairman called on Edo people,
irrespective of party affiliations, to come out en masse to welcome the
President and his entourage to the state.
Meanwhile, the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue of the rally, is wearing a new look ahead of the event.
When NAN visited the stadium, soldiers and other security operatives were fine-tuning security tactics.
They were also seen on major roads leading in and out of the stadium
